Introduction

Golden kiwi (Actinidia chinensis) is a fruiting vine native to China. It is one of the 40 different species which belong to Actinidia genus and it is very closely related to Actinidia deliciosa the most common commercial kiwifruit.  Golden kiwi has a bronze skin, with a beak shape at the stem attachment and its flesh colour can vary from bright green to intense yellow. Their size is similar to a chicken egg.  

 

History

Golden kiwi is originated from China and it is mostly found in the southeast region of the country. From China, it was introduced in New Zealand at the beginning of the 20th century. New Zealand is the first country to commercially grow golden kiwi and in later years golden kiwi was introduced in many different countries.


Regions

The fruit is native in China but it was introduced in many countries around the globe. Nowadays it mostly produced in China, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, South Africa, Turkey, North America, Chile, and Japan.


Flavours & Texture

Golden kiwi has a smoother and sweeter taste compared to green kiwi because it contains a higher amount of fructose. Its taste is sweet and tropical with notes of pineapple and mango. It also has a softer texture compared to green kiwi. 


Preparation

You can either cut it in half with a knife or you can cut it in slices. You can eat the skin of the fruit if you like as it is very soft. You can have in a fruit salad, juice, or in your smoothies.

Golden kiwi contains a relatively low amount of calories and it is a very good source of fibre, minerals and vitamins.

All orders are packed in cardboard boxes with a biodegradable packing pellets to protect the fruit during transit, unfortunately we do not offer a gift wrapping or send the fruit in a gift basket as this may cause toe bruise during transit..

RETURNS

Let's start by stating the obvious. ​Since our produce is perishable we cannot accept returns.​

​That said, we want every customer to be happy so we do offer vouchers, refunds and replacements at our sole discretion if your fruit has arrived inedible. If you would like to report an item which has become damaged or perished during transit, please:-

  • Take a photo of the inedible product
  • Put the product into your refrigerator
  • Send the photos to info@exoticfruits.co.uk, please include your order number in the subject
  • All requests must contact us within 24 hours of order receipt

We are not responsible for products that spoil if there is not someone to receive your delivery on the date that you request it, full tracking is provided and can be requested anytime after dispatch.
