Physalis
Introduction
Physalis is a genus of fruits which are grown in warm temperate and subtropical regions of the world. The majority of Physalis species are known to be indigenous to the Americas and more than 45 species are endemic to Mexico. In terms of their appearance, Physalis are yellow or orange in colour and in terms of size, structure and shape they are similar to a small tomato.
History
Physalis is indigenous to the Americas but it is cultured in many areas around the globe. Approximately eighty to ninety varieties of Physalis occur in North and South America and southern Europe, in the southern parts of the warm and moderate regions. It is believed that Physalis was introduced in South Africa by Portuguese traders.
Regions
Although Physalis is indigenous to the Americas, it has been introduced in many different areas such as Africa, Australia, India, Central America and even in some parts of Europe.
Flavours & Texture
Their flavour is similar to strawberries or pineapple with a mild acidity while their texture is similar to tomato.
Preparation
Fruits can be eaten raw in fruit cocktails, fruit salads, in cooked dishes or even canned whole in syrup or processed into jams. However, it should be mentioned that the fruit should always be consumed when it’s ripped as the unripe fruit may be poisonous for some individuals.

All orders are packed in cardboard boxes with a biodegradable packing pellets to protect the fruit during transit, unfortunately we do not offer a gift wrapping or send the fruit in a gift basket as this may cause toe bruise during transit..
RETURNS
Let's start by stating the obvious. Since our produce is perishable we cannot accept returns.
That said, we want every customer to be happy so we do offer vouchers, refunds and replacements at our sole discretion if your fruit has arrived inedible.
