Introduction
Mamey Sapote, or "Pouteria Sapota", is a luscious and captivating fruit with an enticing aroma, vibrant colour, and rich flavours. It averages 8 to 25 cm in length, with a thick, rough, brown skin that peels away to reveal a creamy, smooth flesh that ranges from orange to red in colour. The black seeds in the centre are inedible when raw. Mamey Sapote is only edible when fully ripe – you can determine its ripeness by squeezing it; it should give slightly.

Preparation
Start by slicing the fruit lengthwise and removing the large seed from the centre. The flesh can be enjoyed directly, either scooped out with a spoon or cut into cubes.
