Introduction

The Celina pear was developed for it's premium pear flavour; the perfect balance of sweetness and tanginess, with a perfectly crisp and juicy texture.

History

The Celina pear is a relatively recent variety, developed in the early 2000s through selective breeding in Norway to create a fruit with a perfect balance of flavour, texture, and resistance to diseases. It quickly gained a reputation for its vibrant red-blushed skin and became popular in various countries due to its appealing appearance and sweet taste. Today, it is widely consumed and enjoyed, particularly in European markets where it is celebrated for its consistent quality and freshness.

Regions

The Celina pear, also known as the "QTee" pear, originated in Norway and has since gained popularity across Europe. It is now cultivated in several regions with temperate climates, including the Netherlands, Belgium, and France, with an increasing presence in North America and other parts of the world. The pear thrives in cool climates, particularly in regions with rich soil and moderate rainfall.

Flavours & Texture

Celina pears offer a delightfully sweet and slightly tangy flavour, making them a refreshing and versatile fruit. Their flesh is crisp yet juicy, with a firm bite that becomes smoother and more tender as the fruit ripens. The pear’s delicate sweetness pairs well with both sweet and savoury dishes, making it a favourite in fruit salads, cheese platters, and desserts.

Preparation

Rinse the fruit and enjoy fresh.
